The artist
SELF.
Art as a return to Self.
The artistic identity of Adriano Barcellos — turning lived experience into music, spoken word, poetry, and immersive co-creations. A mirror, a portal, a quiet fire, and a return.
Not the image. Not the performance. Not the polished self, turned toward the light. The body. The voice. The shadow. The memory. The truth beneath the role, the silence beneath the noise.Only what is real —met without turning away, and allowed to become art.Not to escape the life, but to meet it more fully. Not to become someone else, but to return, more deeply, to myself.
The inquiry beneath it all
Every piece is the same question: who are we, and who are we becoming?
Beneath the music and the words is one devotion: the study of what it means to be human — beginning with myself. I have spent this lifetime learning to look, at the body, the shadow, the memory, the fire. Art is how I do that looking, and how I return what I find.
There is a practice beneath the work — the Self-Portrait: the ongoing study of the one who makes it. The portrait is never finished. That is not a flaw in the practice; it is the practice.
And it was never only mine. The work is a mirror held up — an invitation to look into yourself, too.
Immersive co-creations
Not a set. A world.
When I step into a space — a gathering, a ceremony, a night, a world — I don't bring one thing. I bring the sound and the concept, the arc and the atmosphere, the felt journey and the direction that holds it together. The one who plays, and builds the world, and shapes how it feels — at once. That combination is the work.
Sound & music
the set, the journey, the fire in the room
Concept & world
the idea a gathering is built around
Experience design
how a person moves through it, and feels at each step
Creative direction
the taste that decides what stays and what goes
The sound, to take with you
The recorded world it comes from.
Live
Where to find me next.
The recorded sound, in a room — with a floor, a fire, and a circle of people moving. Come dance.
One essence, many forms
Different forms. Same source.
Music
released sound — the recorded world
Spoken word & poetry
lived experience, shaped for the mouth and the ear
Film & moving image
short pieces, each starting from something real
Immersive experience
the work made to be lived in a room, together
In an age when anyone can generate anything, the art is in the choosing — the hand that decides what is true, and what to leave out.
There is a house behind all this.
SELF is one of its doors — the artist's. The rest of the work — the studios, the systems, the worlds being built — lives here too.
